What Makes a City Great?

Client: Danish Ministry of the Environment

The publication Byliv der betaler sig (in Danish only, I´m afraid) is reporting from a project executed in a collaboration between University of Copenhagen, the Danish Ministry of the Environment and several municipalities in Denmark. It is a big data-project for the first time quantifying the effect on house prices of for example vicinity to parks or public transportation. The project itself is a strong tool for city planning and our report (as a senior analyst for Danish sustainability think tank Sustainia, I wrote and oversaw the design of this publication) was the basis for the conference on city planning attended by amongst other the Danish Minister of the Environment (in 2013) Ida Auken.
